Uncover, 2023

Uncover has taken on more meaning during the market downturn this week. Initially, uncover was about the layers worn by Queen on her winter adventures. On this particular day, it was very cold (0F) and windy above treeline. Queen wore goggles to protect her eyes and had a total of 5 hoods on her head plus a hat. Most of her clothing in winter has a hood because they add an extra layer of insulation. Goggles are rarely needed but when you need them, it can be debilitating without them. Her partner forgot her goggles on this trip and tried to rely on sunglasses. They fogged up which caused them to ice over. Returning from the summit, they had to hike directly into the wind. It was impossible to use sunglasses so she held onto Queens arm while Queen led the way until they were below treeline.

The volatility of this weeks market has uncovered a depth of emotions. When the market was up, excitement continued to build. Thoughts of a bull market danced around our heads. We were quickly reminded that the bear market is still here and the excitement we had a week ago is smothered by the losses.
